MEET THE FOUNDER of Age Freely Fitness and Wellness

Hi, I'm Nancy Watters. I am, a certified Menopause Coaching Specialist, living in the Lekwungen Territory on the beautiful shores of the West Coast of Canada in Victoria, BC, with my husband and three children. I have been passionate about fitness and health for most of my life. I began my professional career in health and wellness after earning a degree in Recreation and Health Education from the University of Victoria and a Master’s in Health Promotion from the University of Alberta. I also hold an MBA and certifications in personal training and yoga.

Throughout my career, I have focused on preventing chronic diseases, promoting healthy lifestyles, advocating for healthy public policies, and leading local and provincial initiatives to improve the quality of the healthcare system. Dealing with my own health issues related to my reproductive system and later entering perimenopause in my mid-forties, I became focused on women’s health in mid-life.

Recognizing the lack of women’s health research and medical care, I set out to learn evidence-based approaches to support women through the menopause transition. Armed with my unique combination of personal experience, knowledge, and passion, I developed the Age Freely Fitness and Wellness Program tailored for active women over 40. The program aims to empower women with the knowledge and tools to build lean muscle mass, nourish their bodies, get better sleep, and tackle stress.

Small Call to Action Headline

My transformation during the menopause transition

In my mid 40's, I was struck with symptoms of perimenopause. These included mood swings, anxiety, poor sleep, and my body shape and size changed dramatically. I had always worked out and eaten well, but suddenly nothing seemed to work. The more I tried (think hours of cardio daily), the worse things became. It wasn't until I started researching the menopause transition and arming myself with evidence-based practices to counteract the hormonal decline to build lean mass that things began to change. Working with my own personal trainer, I started working out more strategically, refining my eating habits and tackling stress and cortisol. I am the healthiest, strongest, and most confident person I have ever been, and I want to bring my program to as many women as possible to empower them with the knowledge, tools and skills to build a lean body composition, and improve their health and wellbeing.
